Music Monday: “Jackson”

song-a-day-challenge-e1586987954193Hi, everyone, and welcome to another week. I admit, my morale has been pretty low. I’ve had several Hashimoto’s flares, and working my day job from home is not at all the pleasant experience I thought it would be. I don’t want to bang on and on about it, as it really is a first-world problem … but I’m still struggling. You all know I like to keep it real around here, so there you have it.

Anyway, I’m now on Day 2 of the challenge I set for myself. That means I need to share a song I’d sing as a duet in karaoke. I had to think about that for a while, because I’m an alto and most female parts of duets are written for sopranos. Nevertheless, I did find a tune that I would cheerfully perform at karaoke. Heck, I always sing June’s part in the car!

Here are Johnny Cash and June Carter performing “Jackson.”

  1. You know what I said on Facebook. Get away from everything. For me, down here in the swamp, that means walking a couple of the dogs on the levee,. For you, it could be anything.Turn your phone off, unless you want to listen to music. May I suggest jazz? Or, at least, music without lyrics.

Working from home home is hard. Both of us do it often. Luckily, we don’t do it all the time. I wish I had some suggestions, but I’m sure you’ve thought about any issues you have. I suppose the best thing I can tell you is eat on whatever your normal meal schedule might be. For us, time has no meaning anymore, so we need some kind of structure.

    1. I’ve been listening to a lot of acoustic guitar instrumentals lately. I have a good album of old Preservation Hall stuff that I haven’t listened to in a while; maybe that would be good.

I really appreciate your support. I’m doing my best. 🙂

    1. I’ve been listening to a ton of Laurence Juber’s stuff. He’s been my favorite guitarist since his days with Wings in the late 1970s. These days he does a lot of gorgeous fingerstyle acoustic work. He’s also putting on a little 20-minute concert six days a week via Facebook Live (usually at 1:30 PM Pacific but today it’s at noon). I’m finding that those little concerts, along with his albums from iTunes, are saving my sanity just a little bit.

      1. When you’re on YouTube, check out Maneli Jamal and Emil Ernebro. Emil throws some electric in there, but still plays fingerstyle. A third is Jamie Dupuis. They’re all pretty fantastic.
