Love the skill and precision with which Jane Austen uses the visits, with their strict social codes. It’s such fun to see how her different characters negotiate them, sometimes getting the better of them, and at other times getter ruined by them. I love being visited, though I don’t have a calling card. Maybe when I retire. . .
