A group of friends and I are doing a virtual “jolabokaflod.” It’s an Icelandic thing (the literal translation is “book flood”). The biggest sales time for books in Iceland is December; publishers time their new releases accordingly. On Christmas Eve, everyone gets a new book to read. So, we’re doing it on-line, sharing what titles we are going to start on Christmas Eve. The other part of our activity is that all participants are to do something nice for the underprivileged that day — especially the homeless, as they won’t be inside to read on Christmas Eve in many cases.
